Description
The Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 is by far one of our favourite Rolex watches. A personal favourite of the curator, and his first Rolex – this watch is perhaps what started it all for The Watch Boutique.
First introduced as the reference 1655 in 1971 for cave explorers, the Rolex Explorer celebrates 50 years this year in 2021. It still is a very understated and underrated Rolex, but equally capable as its older brethren – the GMT Master or any other sports models from the Rolex lineup.
On offer here is a Y-serial example, hailing from circa 2001. Offered as a watch and box only sale, this watch is in good vintage condition overall, with its only flaw being a small chip on the 6 o’clock of the crystal and a couple of hairline swirl marks visible on the crystal.
Please note, the box featured in the images are for photography purposes only. Actual box sold with the watch is a period correct ‘old style’ Rolex wooden box, along with a Rolex Explorer booklet.
